Top Ten Jewellery Remodelling Trends

Like Doc Martin boots and 70’s high waisted flared jeans, trends that we thought we’d successfully banished to the history books, often enjoy a resurgence in popularity.

And, jewellery is no different.

Go back ten or fifteen years and platinum was the precious metal of choice. Platinum was seen as highly desired.

Now?

Well, good old fashioned yellow gold is having a come-back. As are coloured gemstones such as emeralds, sapphires and rubies.

Working at the coal-face of jewellery design, we thought we’d give a run-down of the recent remodelling trends that are coming through our design studio and our workshop…..

Top Ten Jewellery Remodelling Trends

  1. Mixed Precious Metals:

Combining different precious metals, such as gold, platinum, and rose gold, creates a contemporary and dynamic look. Mixing metals adds visual interest and versatility to the remodelled jewellery. Many clients love the versatility of combining precious metals as it allows them to wear their new Legacy jewellery with a variety of their other jewellery.

2. Statement Gemstones:

Large and vibrant coloured gemstones have become a prominent recent trend in jewellery remodelling. Ladies are falling in love with their old emeralds, rubies, sapphires and garnets and releasing them from their jewellery boxes. Princess Catherine’s sapphire and diamond engagement ring definitely sparked an increase in purchases of sapphire cluster engagement rings.

Whether it's a stunning Raindance-inspired ring or a classic pendant, statement coloured gemstones that add a pop of colour, can create a fabulous focal point.

3. Minimalistic Designs:

We have seen an increase in the demand for clean lines, simplicity, and understated elegance over recent months. Embracing minimalist aesthetics allows the focus to be on the beauty of the materials and the craftsmanship.

4. Raindance-Inspired:

Raindance-inspired designs are a wonderful way of combining multiple pieces of jewellery with varying sizes and shapes of diamonds and gemstones. Since Boodles launched their iconic Raindance Ring in 2002 the popularity of this style of design has not waned.

Gemstones are meticulously placed in a seemingly effortless design, mimicking the enchanting dance of raindrops. A popular design choice for many - from understated pretty designs to show=stopping WOW pieces - anything is possible.

5. Nature Inspired Themes:

Nature-inspired designs, such as floral motifs, leaf patterns, or organic shapes, have certainly gained traction over recent months. Ladies tend to ask for “organic” designs and love to embrace motifs that suggest a sense of natural beauty and offer a connection to the world around us.

6. Custom Engravings:

Personalized engravings have seen a surge in popularity over recent years, as they allow individuals to add a unique touch to their remodelled jewellery. It could be initials, special dates, or meaningful symbols that hold sentimental value.

7. Vintage and Retro Revival:

Some of our favourite designs here at Legacy over the past year have been vintage-style designs.

Designs that take inspiration from bygone eras, vintage and retro designs are proving increasingly popular. And, when it comes to Legacy, some ladies love their new design to incorporate a subtle nod to the original. These pieces carry a sense of nostalgia and timeless appeal.

The trend of creating matching jewellery from remodeling old or inherited pieces has become a heartfelt way to honour family legacies and create meaningful connections between loved ones.
